I have weird sized feet. They are less than a 4 and a half but wide and with a high instep. For years I have bought a 5 and then more often than not put an insole in to fill up the extra space. No problem with summer sandals as toes can be short on the sole or very neat fitting. For the last few weeks I’ve been looking for some black loafers. I need a 4 and a half to get the right fit but so few brands make a half size. When we have Brexit will they bring back half sizes do you think? Short of having shoes handmade, I don’t think I will ever find a comfy pair. What’s you’re experience with shoe shopping?

High arches tend to be best for T bars or mary janes. Possibly at their worst for loafers, sorry.

6herry thank you. I’d never actually thought about my instep.
Trisha I have seen that brand in John Lewis and always felt they looked rather heavy but I’ve looked at the website and seen a pair that I like in half sizes too!

I don't buy many shoes but like the t bar style. I have flat feet, I take a 7 (sometimes) but I do have very pretty feet, even if I say so myself Can't imagine what it's like to have small feet LL
