In the USA people get fast food like KFC ,BURGER KING , PIZZA HUT etc several times a week , primarily for convenience since it goes with single life and married couples in this era of both people working . Here in the Philippines it is a big treat for many .

We occasionally have an Indian or Chinese takeaway although often we have a meal in a restaurant and bring the rest back. We now have meals for £10 or £15 from the big supermarkets which are three or four courses plus a bottle of wine. Minimal work and cheap booze are making these more popular than takeaways from restaurants.

We have fish and chips every month or two. But we often, pop a pizza in the oven when tired.

We had a chinese takeaway on Saturday night, but it is rare for us. I cook a meal most nights - yes sometimes it is something out of the freezer with chips or rice (pre-made curries or chilli), but do a proper dinner with veg every other night.

It's the chips, that's the problem. I need to learn to just order the fish....

Guilty! We love the mushroom stuffed pasta from the supermarket, and the jars of olive sauce. I have tried to make both, but my efforts fall short. Also, chop suey and chow mein from the Chinese take away.I I do cook from scratch, honest. Trisha

We had fish and chips last night. As much as I enjoy them, I seem to get a leaden stomach in the morning. It is the only time I ever eat potatoes, so I wonder if I really need to stop eating the chips, and just have the fish.

At a good fish restaurant which also does takeaways I order fish with salad instead of chips. I can have grilled fish instead of battered. They offer free extra portions of chips so Steve gets one and i have a few of his which is enough as I find too many give me a leaden stomach 6herry.

We occasionally have a Chinese takeaway from a local restaurant at night. Occasionally have fish and chips for lunch and then regret it. Stomach feels bloated every time but I still put myself through it. Badpuss are you unable to eat the batter or just very strict with yourself?

Rare for us, probably a couple of times a year, when our grandchildren have a sleep over and they ask for fish and chips, and then grandson has a burger instead of fish.
The take away places nearest to here are not the best, and even if they were it would not happen often for us, prefer home cooked food any day.

LL. I don't like a lot of batter. I have a corner of Steve's. It makes me feel sick if I eat a lot but also I like to keep my weight down as well. I prefer shop batter which is lighter from companies like Ross. tasty but light. I also don't like thick chips. I prefer McDonald's chips but thin chips are more fattening by weight.

Respect to them for progressing the traditional business of a fish and chip shop.
