Our body shapes are all so different that not everyone can wear everything. I have a list of things when I’m shopping for clothes I have a short neck so never look at shirts with collars so I look for tops with a V neck to make it look longer I have a short waist and big hips so never look at anything with a belt For some reason which I’m not sure about, I look for 3/4 sleeves, much more flattering than a full length.. I also know instinctively which colours to avoid. Does this sound familiar?
Being under 5 foot with big boobs makes clothes shopping a bit of a nightmare. Long sleeved tops reach to my fingertips so although I'm not that keen on 3/4 sleeves I have a few top like that. High necks look stupid with big boobs so I go for a scoop neck. Anything with buttons down the front is out as they always gape and often come undone. Dresses are also out as the size I'd need to fit over my boobs would swamp the rest of me and probably reach the floor as well.
It's no wonder I'm a casual dresser. I dread having to find an outfit for a formal occasion.
When I find myself with one coming up I'll be on here begging for advice.
I can't wear yellow, it drains all the colour from my face. I like blue and shades of pink. I have to wear petite clothes or nothing fits. Shoulders too big, sleeves too long in fact nothing fits. Some of the scoop necks are just too low, I don't have much in the way of boobs. Some shift dresses just hang like sacks. www.precis.co.uk/mono-petite-clip-spot-dress-22ac8d I do tend to go for something like this, but with a sleeve. Or the wrap dresses. I tend to go for a pair of smart trousers and a blouse.
Magggzzz, one approximately 5ft 1. The dresses rest on the lower part of my knees. Some of the dresses come longer, I have had to have a couple taken up. I use on line shops, I always look for voucher codes for free delivery. Free returns or I never used again. Worth a try
I’m always in jeans - I’d like to dress up a bit more but jeans are so easy... I’m round in the middle so anything that skims is better than belted. I quite like orange but yellow looks awful on me too!
My school uniform was orange and brown. Disliked those colours all my life until fairly recently when I found by chance they actually are colours I can wear. Not that I have much in orange, mostly greens and blues.
Magggzzz, when you feel ready. Book a session with a personal shopper in whichever shop you like. You don't have to buy. I had one in M&S a while ago, it's surprising just want you can't wear! We had a giggle. Some things that I tried on, the lady shuddered and and said ' take it off NOW, it's awful!
