What do you put in your salads please? I put in apple and pepper when tomatoes are tasteless and orange. Bacon and anchovies and wholemeal croutins go in and mushrooms and spinach as well as lettuce but look for inspiration as we salads every two days in the winter and more in the summer. Thanks.
I add roasted tomatoes to my salads this time of year, just cut cherry tomatoes in half, drizzle with olive oil, add chopped garlic, if liked, and roast until ready, turning half way, my latest food craze are quail eggs, soft or hard boiled, so delicious with salads.
P.S. If you bake a tray of tomatoes, any surplus can be stored in a jar in the fridge.
I'm quite boring, and am inspired to try a few ideas from here already! I tend to stick to the basics, more out of time constraints and lack of imagination most of the time - cheery toms, peppers, radish (firm favourite with me, not so much with OH). As I intend growing more veg at home this year in my new planter, I'm hoping home grown will taste better than some shop bought.
VW, home grown is definitely tastier than shop bought. Lettuce, radish and garlic are really easy to grow and you can also grow small tomatoes in a hanging basket. You can grow salad onions, I have not had any success with these.
