Hello all. Once again it seems to have gone so quiet in here. I do try and log in daily although don't always have time to post if that's at work. Seeing fewer and fewer people online posting which is a shame but hoping it is just due to it being a silly busy time of year for most folks. Xmas will be more low-key than usual in our house, but looking forward to a few days from work. We were hoping to get away in the van but if it's going to be this bitter I may think twice lol. I popped into the van a few days ago to check the dehumidifier, and while it was lovely it was bloomin cold! It's hard to beat your own living room and fire when it's bitter like this isn't it! I'm still knitting like crazy right up to Xmas - thought I was up to date then got asked to make 2 more hedgehogs, a scarf and a hat. Proceeds go to Greyhound Rescue so I don't mind. Pressies wrapped and most cards written. This afternoon when I get home from work I will deliver all the local ones while walking Fred, I have only posted a handful this year as seem to get less and less cards as people stop sending and give to charity instead. That was my intention this year but I seem to have still written a fair few. Bought a real tree this year and I love it. Its quite bushy and holding its needles well so far. Fred hasn't shown any interest in it at all which is good - had a vision of him cocking his leg against it!!! Tomorrow I'm starting some Xmas baking and am going to slow cook a ham in coke as its one of my favourite things. Right - better do a bit of work at least as I'm here! Hope to catch up with you all soon xxx
I share the idea it's because everyone is getting ready for the holidays .All of you can be forgiven since you are doing something that's very good and certainly britens up everyone's life I enjoy reading how people are preparing
I have been busy at the office & working on my online MBA program .This is a much brighter holiday for me then the one 2 years ago when I was alone there in LA . Already have been to about 10 parties ( these Filipino's start celebrating in November & my fellow expats have been throwing parties too ) and am going out with someone who'll I 'll be with on the 24th & 25th
I've been frustrated with the new laptop going so slowly but discovered an app on my tablet - I'm so pleased because I've missed coming here daily to check in!
I've been busy since August sewing cushions as Christmas gifts, trying to complete one a week - 16 in all, every one different, it's been challenging but very enjoyable. Some were quilted patchwork and some applique, learning new techniques and relearning old forgotten skills from years ago. For Christmas I've also made jars of Blackberry and Apple jam, spiced biscuits and Cranberry and Orange mini loaves. Hubby made the cards too so we are feeling accomplished this year!
A big family party here next week, the food has been complicated as DIL is gluten free, vegan, 1 grandson really only feels safe eating macaroni cheese, 1 doesn't like spicy and so on... plus it's my Christmas Do just before, so I need to be organised making everything 2 days before. I'm quite pleased about that actually, because I won't have much to do on the day but enjoy everyone's company!

I’ve been thinking of you all but not had a minute to log on since coming home from the US a week ago. It’s been full on with card writing, putting decorations up, shopping, plus 4 nights out catching up with different groups of friends. I’ve spent several hours wrapping today but run out of tags! Tomorrow I am going north to visit the lady who had the stroke in the summer. Had booked to take her out for lunch but she cancelled as it’s the Care Home Christmas Party! Going to pop in for half an hour before lunch to give her a Christmas card and a box of taffy which I bought in Florida. Thought it was like our toffee but my son thinks it’s more like fudge which is probably a lot better for an elderly person..
VW you are a busy bee!
Love your cushions Beckyboo. Very, very clever!
Moi, glad you have someone to share Christmas with this year. Enjoy!
Absolutely lovely Beckyboo well done to you and your OH, love the jam making too. There are some seriously clever crafters on here!
I think it's been quiet because we are all trying to get things done, which also means visiting relatives who are far away, decorating the house and present making/buying, still, it sounds like we are all ahead of the game so we'll meet back here at the end of the week for drinks
My friends, as I have discovered myself, there are no disasters, only opportunities. And, indeed, opportunities for fresh disasters.
