I've just started watching this BBC 2 series tracing the history of a house in Bristol from when it was built in 1700s - it's really interesting. Presented by historian David Olusoga - who has a very watchable presenting style - it has really captured my imagination and is particularly relevant to some of the very recent events in that city (as the house was built by a ship's captain with money from his slave trade journeys). History is somehow far more interesting when it's about real people.
I think this is the second series, I don't know what kind of house the first one was about, but this one has got me hooked

That sounds like my cup of tea! I will look it up. I’ve been looking at old maps recently on line. Think the earliest is 1860s which shows lots of things I didn’t know about our village such as there was a windmill. Funnily I was on TV last night. One of my daughter’s friends spotted us (OH and me) on a railway programme.
