LOL, no. We have been making pumpkin bread (called bread, but more like cake!) however there appears to be a shortage of tins of pureed pumpkin in the shops

Jax, have you tried some the smaller shops? Or even the Β£ shops. Or Aldi often have different foods.

The big supermarkets don't seem to have any on the shelves or on their websites, we are beginning to wonder whether there's a supply problem - maybe the pumpkin harvest was poor last year or something - but that's a good idea to try Aldi or some of the smaller shops. Saw someone selling a can on Amazon for Β£35!

Is that a mince pie?
If so, no I haven't. I have had pumpkin though, Japanese Pumpkin (Kabocha) it's sweet and creamy, much nicer than our orange ones which I find really bitter.
I made a Kabocha gratin at the weekend and I must say, it was really delicious.

Yes B, it's a mince pie. Your gratin looks delicious, I have never heard of Kabocha pumpkin.

Ive not eaten a mince pie yet Trisha, but I have been giving serious thoughts to them, trying to resist for a while π
The Kambocha squash looks nice B, I havenβt tried one yet, but I will be on the lookout for them π

Really recommend them Jazzy and I recommend mince pies too
Jax - can you buy fresh pumpkin instead for your cake? and make your own puree, I would have thought the Japanese pumpkin would lend itself to a sweet cake, it's lovely.

I have never bought or even tasted pumpkin. I didnβt even realise you could get the tins of it in this country.
I love the look of your gratin. Can you tell me how you made it.

This is how I made it, if you follow this link. I didn't have any miso left, so had to leave it out. If you leave it out though I would advise a strong cheese, to make up for the flavour missed from the Miso. You can also add Facon or Bacon if you like www.justonecookbook.com/kabocha-gratin/
I and OH have now had mince pies, couldn't resist, delicious
