I LOVE hot cross buns Jaz, in fact I luv anything with dried fruit...the only one in the family that does...so all the Christmas cake and mince pies just for me
I like mine toasted with lots of butter, ( I love butter too unfortunately ) I really like the sound of yours, I am definitely going to be trying that one out.
I am reading this Cj, thinking, this is me talking I don't like cakes apart from those with dried fruit in. Fruit scones, Bara Brith........obvs with lashings of butter
Except I have started on a healthy eating regime. On my 3rd week now of no butter, or carbs basically as I felt so rubbish, bloated and tired. It is working and I can't believe how much butter is still in the fridge ? I was clearly eating pounds of the stuff, on crackers, scones, bara brith
I saw advertised on M&S chocolate gooey hot cross buns, with choc chips, nuts, praline....blah blah blah... why has everything got to be covered in chocolate or salted caramel ? Bacon and Marmite ?
Let's just stick to tradition. Good old toasted fruit hot cross bun, with half a pound of butter on it. Mmmmmmmmm
Your post made me smile SunnyD I also love that a thread about how we like our hot cross buns has 11 posters ...this is important stuff girls.
I feel ashamed confessing that I cannot eat any desert with chocolate in, I am ok with white chocolate as it doesn't smell the same as brown...and I don't mind eating a couple of squares of chocolate although I am not really that fussed, but chocolate in a desert...and chocolate especially in me hot cross buns ...yuk...no thanks.
I also can't eat deserts with alcohol in...I know...what a thing to admit in public ...although I am not averse to the odd glass of bubbles, as you know , or a reviving large g and small t on occasion...but in me trifle or pudding ...give me clotted cream anytime..
Then again, whilst I do like butter, I have to admit, I have seriously gone off that James Martin during lockdown.
Being a local lad I try to make meslef like him, but watching how much butter he slathers on everything really really puts me off....doesn't put me off butter, just puts me off him ...he will regret it in a few years I am sure.
