I'm not going to be on for a while as we had a serious chimney fire yesterday, we are ok and the house is still intact . I will get on as and when I can.

So sorry Linda. That must have been very traumatic. A neighbour had one once and the fire brigade were called out. I’d never heard of such a thing before. Hope all is ok again very soon.
I must admit I was shaking, probably with adrenaline. We visited a wood burner place yesterday, someone will come for an onsite review next Monday, 25th. However there is a waiting list of loads of people wanting a wood burner before Christmas so ours would be fitted early Jan next year. The smell of smoke is gradually going with scented candles, insense etc and the windows open (not open too much as it's starting to get colder).
Will keep you all updated as things progress, albeit slowly. Thanks everyone for thinking of us, it makes a huge difference to kknow people care.

Oh no Linda- how frightening. My biggest fear is fire. Hope you can get the house sorted soon, and relax in the knowledge that a log burner will be safer. xx
We have paid for the log burner today - upfront. Review on the 25th as there will be essential extra like a new flue, a new chimey pot etc and it can be fitted on Jan 24th 2022. A bit of a wait but there is an end in sight, so we are trying to stay positive. In the meantime we have central heating but just putting that on when really necessary as gas prices are going up...hugely too!
Linda, I agree with VW. A lot burner will be much safer. Have you gone for wood or multifuel? You will probably find that it's cleaner than an open fire too. Get some logs in ready. for the winter.

It's a wood burner trisha. We have a poly tunnel full of logs already for the winter.

Linda, it sounds as though you are already well prepared. It's such a shame that your new fire won't be fitted until the new year. However, it really will be worth the wait.

Goodness Linda....what on earth is going to be thrown at you and your OH next....and you just crack on and deal with it, even though a chimney fire must be very scary indeed, I hope everything has settled down again now., fingers , toes, eyes crossed.
I love a log burner, such a shame it won't be in for Christmas, but you will have it for the dark dull months of the new year, a lovely thing to be looking forward to.
I don't know Cj, it's just one F***ING thing after another !!! I have to cope with it all though, there is no other choice. Thanks for your thoughts, all of you, it does make a difference
It’s good to hear that you have got a log burner being installed in the new year, plenty of logs ready too, warm cosy days to look forward to and hygge living guaranteed 😍
