We watched Cracker Jack on a Friday afternoon! It’s 5 to 5! I rather think Thunderbirds was on the other channel which caused a problem in our house as my brother wanted to watch that! Who were the presenters? Feel free to comment or add your own memory!
I don't remember watching crackerjack but was aware of it somehow. I was the youngest so the tv wasn't something I had control over but I do remember watching the clangers, Jackanory, Blue Peter and my favourite The Wombles, which is what I've actually become.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.

Laughing about your Womble comment. We were near Wombleton last week on our mini break and I wondered if the Wombles had been inspired by that place. Also reminded of when my Dad was in hospital in Blackburn and waiting outside the ward with my mum to go in, wearing my Mum’s what she called fun fur jacket when Mum said I looked like a Womble!
Leslie Crowther & Peter Glaze were the hosts of Crackerjack .... and at 4.55 on Friday afternoons if I happen to look at the clock, that phrase immediately springs to mind ("it's Friday, it's 5 to 5 - it's CRACKERJACK!")
Not a Womble, but when my son was little my OH came to collect me from the hairdresser. My son declared "mummy, your hair makes you look like someone famous ....." but it wiped the smile off my face when he said "it's Cruella DeVil!"
LL, I'm sure I'm not that far behind you, it's probably because I had 2 older brothers, they too where watching Thunderbirds
A friend of ours has nicknamed me and OH "The Wombles" because we always seem to be making stuff out of other unwanted things, most recently, planters out of old tea chests and a bird table out of other bits we found.

The Wombles first aired on 5 February 1973. The series was based on the books written by Elizabeth Beresford, about a secretive group of creatures who live beneath Wimbledon Common, collecting and recycling the litter left behind by the "everyday folk".
They were quite ahead of their time, they could do with airing this again. Bernard Cribbins who narrated it had such a lovely comforting voice
