The amount of times I have driven passed that place VWC and wondered what it was Supposedly an interesting afternoon out. That really is a lovely trade to be in Linda57, what a talented OH you have. The central heating is sort of mended think OH has worked it out to re-set, but in truth we are very happy with the log burner this year. Magggzzz I remember the coldness of the toilet seat In very cold weather we sometimes had to use a hairdryer or fan heater to melt the waste pipe on the bath. Remember the milk bottles looked like a volcanic eruption if they froze on the doorstep

They are expanding the grounds now too - lots of beautiful metal animal sculptures, have regular bird of prey demos, blacksmiths, and other trades working onsite too. Lots of lovely things to buy for the home and a smashing cafe too

This post has rekindled some memories. We had a coal fire in the living room and that was it. Your front was hot and your back freezing. We didn't have an upstairs toilet and I do remember that if we needed a 'wee' in the night it wasn't unusual for it to be frozen on winters morning. We had snow so deep that it would be halfway up the front door. Also, the roof was covered in slate tiles, when the snow began to melt it would slide down the roof covering whoever was underneath at the time. We went to school no matter what the weather was like. Sitting in your hat and coat if the school boiler stopped working.

Linda57, what a talented man your hubs is. We have a blacksmith fairly close to us. I have promised myself a weather vane for as long as I can remember. The trouble is that I keep changing my mind about the design.

I would agree with that, or go off in the opposite direction, perhaps something utterly bonkers.
