My parents had a real tree always for the most part, but I do have a vivid memory of a Silver artificial tree when I was about 10? I remember some plastic spikey baubles on it, on the ends of some of the spikes were some tiny baubles. I have since seen some of these being sold as vintage decorations, would have been quite cool in this house

It just wasn't right in this house. Everywhere I put it, it looked wrong. I have a lot of very large houseplants and the tree looked strange amongst them.
So I went out to the garden and got a large branch that had been taken down when we moved, I have put it in the nook and decorated it with the same lights and decs off the other one and it looks fab

That’s a shame B, but I agree with you, a Christmas tree has to look like it’s comfy and a good fit, it took me a couple of years to find exactly the ‘right spot’ for our tree 🌲 when we moved here 🙂
I have a real tree every year and it goes in the same spot. A tradition now. I did think to put it in the conservatory, but it's almost as if it wouldn't be Christmas!
