Well we are heading well into the last leg (hopefully) of my house renovation. This week the plasterer came to skim the hall, stairs and landing. I now have lovely flat walls! Taking next week off work to paint it all which should be fun as I'm not great with heights and the new stairs is not yet made so one big open space. We have been let down by the people originally making the stairs and have been using a ladder to get upstairs for the last 2 months, so I am hoping this new stairs will be made and in by Xmas. Mum, at 86, is not too struck on the idea of getting up to the bathroom on the current arrangement lol Attachments:

Wow, 2 months up and down a ladder VW, you've the patience of a saint. There's something really nice about new plaster. I love watching those guys at work, quite an art form I know what you mean about wanting things done in time for Christmas, everyone wants there house to look at it's best for the festivities. I don't think my mum would cope with a ladder either Always enjoy your house renovation pictures, you posted some fab pictures on the old site of all the hard work and your house looked lovely, beautiful kitchen and I really loved those quirky stools you had in there. Keep up the good work and I look forward to some more pictures. Well done to you and your great guy:)

Cheers B - coving went up yesterday too so looking better again. Am dreading painting it though. Looking now for a new dining table and chairs, and I think that's it for furniture. The stairs should be going into production end of this week too. It's been a long slog but finally looking like home. Bought some lovely linen fabric for a door curtain - expensive but I love it - pictures to follow ;-)

Wonder how many man hours you've done in painting VW? It must have seemed never ending. Let's hope those stairs are in by crimble, Santa would have a hard time lugging that sack up a ladder!
We are both on the hunt for curtains then. As we speak our Victorian sash windows are being fitted with brass fixings, they look gorgeous. I'm looking for floor length velvet ones.

I have also enjoyed watching your progress VW, and admiring you with envy, I have to get a decorator in to do these projects. Coving is a must in my opinion, I don't like ceilings without it, do hope it all goes to plan, with the painting and stair installation, love linen curtains too

I dread to count up the hours spent on everything but hopefully in the new year we can look back and say it was worth it! Here is my curtain fabric - I just love birds so thought it was quite quirky

I've seen quite a lot of bird design fabric and wallpaper, but not that one before, really quite different and yes, quirky... I like quirky, very pretty

I hope you managed to get your stairs in before Christmas. Your curtain fabric is unusual, I haven't seen anything like it before. Lovely.

Trisha Thanks Trish - just thought it was pretty and a little different. The starirs, after mush tooing and froing are being ordered today - they say they should be manufactured and delivered before Xmas - but I can see us fitting them the weekend before at best lol - nothing like cutting it to the wire eh?

Fabric is still sitting on its roll - will have to get shifting on making into it into the curtain lol. All plaster is now painted two coats of white on and I must admit it has nearly killed me. I painted from 7am to 4pm on Monday pretty much non-stop off ladders which I had to keep moving so it was a slow process. Hips gave up the ghost on Tuesday so had to stop. Finished last bit on Friday. Was due to due a colour now for third coat but just can't face it, so it's staying white for a year or two! OH put architrave round doors last night so starting painting that this evening. Electrician put lights up yesterday and sockets back on - i missed the sockets more than the lights! Aching all over now and starting some sort of bug - think I am overtired. Hopefully work with quieten down these next few weeks.
