I can't have wheat or any other gluten containing grain. I find that commercial gluten free products swap the wheat flour for rice flour, I can't eat that either. I love things like sausage rolls, pasties etc so have been missing those comforting kind of pastry foods until I found this. I thought it was probably going to taste awful and not be anything like pastry but how wrong was I ! I know the colour is strange but if you can get your head round that, you'll find the texture and taste is so much like a pastry So easy! 1 cup of shelled pumpkin seeds ground into a flour (I used my electric cofee grinder to do this) 1 egg That is all you need. Mix together, it will be very sticky at first but keep kneading it and it will become elastic, you may want to ad a little more pumpkin flour depending on the size of egg you use but it will go into a ball of dough if you work it. Roll out with a pastry roller just like dough and cut into the shape you want for a pie or sausage rolls add your filling and bake on a moderate oven for approx 20 mins or about 10 if small pastries.

It does look a bit of a strange colour but you do what you have to do don't you.
My big problem is with processed food. I can take a bit but anything with a lot of additives makes me feel as if I've been poisoned. It does mean a lot more cooking than I'd like to have to do but it all tastes better anyway. To me ready meals don't taste of anything. We've never been big fans of them anyway...apart from a curry.

The colour is a tad unusual but its a perfect way of having something you enjoy that doesn't include things to make you suffer! I decided to make cornish pasties the other night - had a hankering for comfort food, and defrosted pastry - but it wasn't until I took them out of the oven that I realised it was puff!! So we had a puffy open pasty instead - they were lush!

That's good Beckyboo:)
The first time I made it, said to OH "This is really sticky, don't see how this is going to end up in a dough ball" but I kept working it like the instructions said and added a little more of the pumpkin seed flour to my hands, then all of a sudden it came to it:) Just a little tip there. The thing I like about this is that the seds give off quite a lot of oil, so it doesn't crack and rolls nicely.
Skys the limit on fillings:)
