I hate Marmite too. OH loves it though, spread thinly on toast.
Just thinking...when I was a child and living in Scotland, fish and chips was always called a "fish supper".
Other controversial things...black pudding..love it, Haggis...also love it, sliced and baked in the oven till it's crispy.
I remember my gran eating tripe. There's no way I could even bring myself to taste it. I've noticed that the most authentic Chines restaurants serve tripe, deep fried and crispy but I still couldn't even try it.
I think Marmite is one of those things that tastes different to different people. To me it tastes incredibly bitter and I can't imagine anyone wanting to eat it. OH says it tastes very savoury in which case I should like it. I can't remember where I heard this theory. Brussel sprouts are another thing. I love them.
Going back to vinegar, does anyone else add it to timed salmon? Lovely with lots of pepper and put on a wholemeal sandwich. Marmite, nice on a crispbread topped with natural cottage cheese.
Yes I do - my mum always has. Mind you she puts vinegar on everything lol. Its a wonder her blood hasn't dried out. I remember her putting little bowls of sliced onion and cucumber in vinegar on the table for tea.
