That's me and the garden, lol. I've spent the morning weeding, deadheading roses and cutting back huge Buddleias that hang over our driveway and annoy the supermarket delivery driver (He will be happier now, hopefully!) Lots of my flowers and herbs have already gone to seed after the hot spell and the salad seeds still haven't germinated, apart from a bit of rocket. It has been a good year for roses and lavender but apart from that, my garden is really suffering this year. Anyone else finding the same thing?

We had some late frosts that seemed to kill off a lot of new fresh growth which was disappointing - my Acers suffered but I can see some new leaves coming through. Raspberries and loganberries are fab this year. Honeysuckle sort of came and went without a bang. Weeds in the lawn are thriving!!! lol

My friend said exactly the same about her Acers, VWC. I haven't got one raspberry yet Lots of weeds in the 'lawn' here too but we keep bees and they love the clover etc so that makes it okay...

I don't know if you know but we sold our lovely cottage last summer and moved to the town (bad, bad decision) so we only have a little walled garden now. Filled it with tropical evergreens, so not much for me to do, reading about your gardens makes me miss my old cottage even more.

I didn't know you moved, B! I remember now that you were hoping too. I had a small town garden for a year, about ten years ago, and it was a joy in its own way - a lot less work, for sure! Yours sounds gorgeous. You can sit in it and read, or wander into town for a coffee instead of spending hours pulling up weeds! It can be hard to move sometimes so I hope you enjoy it more as time goes by x

Ha, I've just asked in your other post if you are a big gardener which clearly you are! I have done more gardening this year than previously. I water every day so my herbs are still ok and my tubs are looking great. Got to go now but will be back later!

Had a lot of lettuce and rocket so far, outdoor lettuce has gone to seed and so has the rocket now, such a shame, just when it was doing so well, cucumbers are abundant, and we are supplying family and friends daily with these, tomatoes are just ripening this week, and nearly forgot, lots of spring onions and new potatoes.
Have you tried growing beetroot, OH likes the beetroot, but the leaves are a nice addition to a salads.

The garden has taken a battering after the recent spell of heavy rain. I do agree about the roses and lavender. They are really thriving. The blackcurrants are in the process of being stripped by the birds! Why do they never do it whilst they are being watched!

Perhaps we got off to a late start as our plants are still flowering with few tomatoes grown big enough to ripen. No raspberries but but we have got blackberries growing in a gap in the hedge. I hope we get to pick them when they are ripe and beat the pesky birds! Do do you remember a while ago, I post about falling out with my OH because he didn't want to change the contents of our pots for new compost? We came to an agreement and mixed half and half. The tubs are doing beautifully which makes me question what it says on the bags of compost - 4 months feed. I must try and post a photo of them.

Yes LL, our tomatoes are in the greenhouse, along with the cucumbers, the outdoor tomatoes have a way to go and only just forming.

Hi Jazzy, my rocket is still baby-sized and the other salad leaves didn't germinate So weird as I normally live off salad from the garden at this time of year. I have tried to grow beetroot as I love it but the mice (of which there are thousands here) nibbled every single one so I gave up! Your garden sounds amazing, and full of deliciousness LL, I think some plants need more food than others so they can never say exactly how long the food in new compost will last but most potted plants certainly need added nutrition. Hope we can see your photos

Our fruit trees, apple and golden plums, are heavily laden, as are our gooseberry bushes.

Our garden is in need of a day of weeding but so much else needs doing too! Our roses look the best they have for years (just when I was considering cutting the climbers around the front door right back). The lavender are thriving but only half a dozen unripe raspberries so far (so little return for so much plant!).
