That's a great way of looking at it 6herry You've done well Pink Diamond, I just know that when my children have children, they'll be getting all sentimental and they'll want it, well some of it.......or maybe they won't

It's so therapeutic to have a clear out .... mind you, I am now wondering if I was a bit too enthusiastic when I did some wardrobe de-cluttering at the beginning of the Summer - can't find some of my jumpers, not sure whether I gave them to the charity shop or if they're packed away somewhere in the loft! That's so funny Jax as I do exactly the same!

A few years ago I had a big clear out and took a pile of stuff to the charity shop, including a bridesmaids dress which my daughter had made for her when she was 8 years old - it had been gathering dust on the back of her bedroom door for years (and the marriage had broken up in the meantime), so I thought I'd add that to the bag of stuff to go - I knew she'd never notice it was missing and what she didn't know wouldn't hurt her. Imagine my horror the following week when I saw they'd put that dress right in the middle of the window display - the charity shop was next door to the shop she worked in on Saturdays, so I had to confess to her what I'd done before she spotted it herself - luckily she saw the funny side of it and agreed that it was better for someone else to get some use out of it.

I just throw out one item a day and if I want to buy a new item I throw an additional item in exchange. It is amazing how much one can dispose of. I recycle a lot of pillow cases etc into dust clothes or things to line cat baskets as my kittens are at the chewing stage still having their baby teeth.

That's a great rule of thumb Badpuss2, we had a major de-clutter throughout the summer as since you've been on we have moved house, from the countryside into the town. The amount of things we had accumulated in our outbuildings was mind blowing. Can't accumulate stuff in the town for lack of sheds etc. Even though we've moved we are still finding things to get rid of, prefer a simpler life.

Nice to talk with you again Bellatrix. Where is your new house and are you enjoying settling in? Is your Daughter enjoying college now? Badpuss2

My way of decluttering isn't hard and I don't have to psyche myself up for a big clear out. Easier on the conscience.

That is a clever way to declutter. I do already have a 1 in 1 out for clothes rule. Outbuildings are too easy to fill with stuff that 'might come in useful'.
