You already know that I started making handbags when the first lockdown hit, as a way to try and continue to raise funds for Greyhound Rescue Wales, which is dear to my heart. In 2020 I raised £900 in my spare time for several greyhound rescue charities, and this year I have continued to make bags, baskets, hats, scarves, throws, hedgehogs and numerous other things to help keep donations going. I am not sure how much I have raised this year without checking but think it is about £700. Hope to add to that this month also. Attended 4 little local craft fairs this year which were fun. Met some lovely people, and it spurred me on to make more items, and carry on helping as much as time allows. So many people are now supporting local and buying handmade items and its helping keep a good spirit in the community. Here are a few things I have made recently -
That's brilliant VWC, they must be so delighted to receive your donation. The dog rescue who we got our current (monster!) & previous dog from was badly affected by the storm last weekend and were left in a terrible state with the roof ripped off and some of their buildings being structurally damaged. The local community rallied round and earlier this week I checked and they'd had donations of more than £60,000 towards the repairs. Sadly one poorly little pup died as a result of them not being able to keep her warm enough as the power was off but the mother and the rest of the litter were ok. Your handiwork is so professional, why would anyone want to buy mass-produced stuff when they can have a hand-crafted unique item like yours .... wish you lived near me!
