The birth of the Internet .What wud humankind do without it ?
The Iraq War of 2003,I was a bartender at the time and heard lots of complaining about it from army officer customers . To most of them not needed and a a game so george bush jr could look tough after the 9/11 attacks and a con job by the israel/ israel lobby to have the USA remove Saddam Hussein .
Ravi Shankar .Can hear sitar music as I type !
Billie Holiday .Great talent but victim of her times and musician's culture .
Jackie Chan .Chop chop chop , all his movies are the same. But has a great sense of humor.

Just reading about the French Third Republic and the Dreyfuss scandal..... nothing like I know, but it reminds me now of this ridiculous Post Office scandal and the massive cover up they made and the poor individuals whose lives are so badly scarred.
Why on earth Alfred Dreyfuss went back into the army as a Major I cannot comprehend...
Reading about Mary Pickford, she came from a family where all her siblings were actors and various scandals arose. Her adopted children seemed not to be fond of her, but did'nt alot of golden stars of that era struggle to put their fame to oneside in their private life? My mind runs to the comments about Joan Crawford.
Margaret Thatcher was seemingly invincible, letting people in their council houses have the option to buy ! I do feel now looking back that they should never have privatised so many companies and like all great statesman the power goes to their head.
I agree with your feelings on the privatization SD - it's great that people were able to buy their houses but what a state housing shortage that has caused and the "housing associations" were not quite the same, rent bigger etc and opened the doors to a lot of private landlords not looking after tenants like the council would have done.
Privatisation of major utilities has just brought expensive utilities and travel etc, these companies just want to earn as much as possible for their shareholders.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
1865 – American Civil War: Robert E. Lee surrenders the Army of Northern Virginia (26,765 troops) to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, effectively ending the war.
American Civil War Ends in 1865? Not totally true .The whole civil rights movement of the 1950's/60's was the often violent end letting black people fully into American life in the south that they'd been blocked from after the war ended .Maybe the final battle recently when army bases named after Confederate general were changed to other names & taking down of Confederate monuments .Lots of complaining by the Republicans.
My home state of Kentucky was the only southern state to stay in the USA after the rest of the south broke off & joined the Confederacy .Knowing my yahoo family none of the men fought for either side but am sure many of the woman sold themselves to soldiers on both sides .
The Suez Canal cleared after British French Israeli attack on Egypt .That's not how it's told in the USA where israel is always the innocent victim
Leon Blum .New to me , looked like a man who cared about the people. It is a miracle hitler or Marshal Petain did not kill him .
Jean Claude Belomondo .Found him on YouTube , likable. Could be serious but also had a great sense of humor .Will look at some of his movies .
Frank Lloyd Wright . Never trust anyone with 2 first names. A legend , have been to 2 of his houses. Short on closets.
Prince Phillip . Looked important , I came to understand him watching THE CROWN .
Nothing to do with the Missisipi River, but I watched an ancient 1940 film yesterday about Hudson Bay and the anglo french conflicts over the fur trade.
Paul Robeson was brilliant in Show Boat on stage and in the film.
Jean Paul Belmondo I remember watching, but I can't quite remember in which films.
Prince Philip. Was it really 3 years ago. I learnt quite a bit from the Crown too Moi that I didn't realise.
1606 – The Virginia Company of London is established by royal charter by James I of England with the purpose of establishing colonial settlements in North America.
Because of the post the other day looked at 2 Jean Paul Belmondo movies on YouTube and love him .Like the now gone American movie star Steve Mc Queen but more talented He could do drama and comedy what with his great sense of humor.
F Scott Fitzgerald. He wrote part of his famous The Great Gatsby at a hotel in my semi native Louisville Kentucky .Have been there several times. Tragic guy, a crazy wife & the bottle got him .
Alcoholic Anonymous .Has saved many lives
Paul McCartney leaves THE BEATLES. Life is full of changes , so what anyway ?

Omar Sharif .Who ? Only remember him from LAWRENCE OF ARABIA .From what I read anti - semitism ( Arabs are semites ) and his gambling addiction prevented him from being the first Arab superstar .
-J-P Belmondo : I liked him very much ! Yes, sense of humour, and he liked making stunt, taking risks, was wounded while shootin " The man of Rio" and some others.
