We don't go over the top with outside lights. We have a bauble that hangs on the wall and a set of lights on the small fence. Our neighbour across has a set of blue lights that go across the two bay windows. They are so cheerless. It's strange because the tree that they have indoors is full on colour and flashing lights.

To anyone who has a love of flashing lights, I apologise and mean no offence, I just can't get to like them. I guess they're not calm enough for me and make me feel frantic, reminding me of a fair ground rather than christmas. Blue is also not a cosy colour Trisha, so I understand that.
I feel sorry for some people who have to live opposite to what must seem like a carnival with whole houses lit up like blackpool sea front flashing on and off all night long...here comes a migraine:)))

Oh yes - flashing lights. Migraines here we go!! Plus it can't be good for people whose epilepsy is triggered that way? They must go through hell! I have lights on my tree - warm white - they are either on or off lol. Boring but I like it that way haha. I have decorated the hall also with some lights - but they do twinkle. In fact they have 7 different settings and the default was disco central!!!! We soon found 'twinkle'........
We have icicle lights at the top of the house and a lit up box shrub on the front doorstep - we usually have others up on some trellis along the garage wall but had to buy new icicle lights this year because the old ones were broken and when we got them up we realised they didn't match the others we usually put up (which doesn't matter because I like them better anyway). So it is a bit flashy round here.
Our house has icicles, lights around the trees and the gazebo and the hedge and we have reindeer lit up because we used to have children regularly visit the house and they enjoyed the lights. The neighbours said they liked them so we have kept them each year.
I have had 3 migraines in the space of a week, hadn't had one in such a long time, could be because the house opposite is flashing away like a fairground

Talking of lights - my Xmas tree ones (which were new this year) gave up the ghost last night! Couldn't find the spare bulbs (I seem to remember them heading for the bin)...... Tried allsorts to fix them , but ended up stripping the tree and starting again with a new set!
We don't have lights up outside at all but make up for it by having coloured lights around the top of every room downstairs and up the banister of the stairs and penguin lights on the tree! They all have the capability to flash but I can't deal with that and set them to gentle fading in and out or static...
Vw, I recall our tree lights died one Christmas eve! We went everywhere looking for lights, we eventually found the last set in a small newsagents. Back in the 70's they cost an eye watering £25. Boo for broken fairy lights.
