That would be fab. I hate plastic. I try my best to avoid buying plastic packaging but sometimes it is difficult. Hope many other brands follow suit. It's a shame that as a small country this won't make a big enough impact on the global plastic issue, but it's a start
Well done to Iceland, Prime Minister May has just announced there could be tax incentives for these changes, so they will all be on the band wagon that being the case. I just get so frustrated by constantly reading on a salad bag/vegetable bag ....'not yet recycled' ........why not, it's not like recycling has just been invented, it's been happening for years and years now, I really think supermarkets, fast food chains etc., should have facilities for us to recycle their unwanted plastic bags and containers.
A friend lives in Germany and the supermarkets there have a facility where you can remove, before leaving the store, all the packaging you don't want to take home.
A milkman, such a nice idea, but not so practical these days, unfortunately.
VW, that would be amazing. We have a market stall (there every day) that sells fruit and veg, all put into paper bags. We have a veg shop that sells a mixed veg bag eg cabbage , carrot, onions etc unfortunately its all sold in a plastic bag! VW I love your photo, is it you?

I think Iceland are very clever as they don't sell a lot of fresh veg and it will cost them little and gain them increased publicity and credibility in the public eye. Pleased the other companies may have to follow suit. I prefer my veg loose and in paper sacs but it is difficult to find places where they provide the service.
I learnt that my daughter has a milkman where she has recently bought a new home, glass bottles. I feel that the supermarkets could start by replacing those thin plastic bags for holding veg and fruit of your choice with paper bags. They could do that now. All groceries in USA were packed in paper bags and they have never had a problem.
I may just try and shop with as little plastic as possible. A challenge to see what I can buy. Probably using small independents will be easier to achieve this.
That's fab news. I hate things wrapped in plastic, for a few reasons. Firstly the toxins from plastic leeches into your food, it also makes the food sweat and I get fed up with the amount of plastic to get rid of, so much over packaging. Also very upsetting to see wild life tangled up in the stuff. Some things I find impossible to open!
Had a milkman when we lived at the cottage. I loved that clink clink at 5 in the morning and the crunch as he came down the path.
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
Nought wrong with paper bags... Let's have more of them.
Yes, VWC, what's the story with the new pic?
My new pic - it's one of the very few pictures of me that I like! Taken when I was about 5 - between Borth and Aberystwyth on a lovely day out with mum's friends that I called 'auntie and uncle'. Sat on his beloved Ford Capri. And the day after I passed my driving test I went and bought one!
What about those hard plastic wrappings that you have to cut every inch off with scissors, and they are too sharp on your skin to do anything less on. They do wind me up...

Yep - the sort that your new pair of scissors usually come wrapped in - so that you can't even get into it to use them lol
Absolutely VWC ! so many wrappings drive me pots in the frustration and I end becoming a raving looney wheeling a knife, scissors or machete! to open the packaging
I didn't realise that tea bags have a form of plastic in them ? Only loose leaf tea is free of the darn stuff!
I love your photo VWC, I am going to follow suit now and try to find one of me when I was small.
