So, my Christmas cake was delicious, we’ve still got a fair bit left but there’s just the two of us so I’ll bring it to my sisters next time we all get together which will be the end of the month. As you can see, crumbly! It’s moist and tasty but all my fruit cakes crumble when they’re cut - could it be the knife? What kind of knife do you use?

Now, where is the cheese? Trisha Correct me if you think I am wrong, but we don't do fruit cake and cheese down south, I know that it is a popular combination in Yorkshire, do Scotland or Wales do this, or anywhere else ?

Jazzy I am a Yorkshire 'lass' through and through. Instead of being born within sound of the Bow Bells, I think the midwife said 'eyup love, she's champion '. My daughter in law is from Essex and she says that cheese and fruit cake is horrible. Trisha

I must admit I've not eaten the both together (here in Wales). Do love both though. I guess its like red wine and chocolate........

Trisha I love your description Trisha 'eyup love, she's champion' I read about the Christmas cake or fruit cake and cheese combination many years ago, that some Yorkshire lasses make their Christmas cakes in a large loaf shape, so that it is easier to slice for the cheese board, as much as I love both cheese and Christmas cake I would never eat them together, I am interested to know which cheese would be served this way ?

In keeping with the Yorkshire theme, maybe a nice Wensleydale? 😄
