The holly trees are full of berries, robins have arrived. Just about everyone is saying that we are going to get a really harsh winter. What do you all think? Old wives tale, or should I get more logs in?

I’ve heard that saying too Trisha and noticed our holly looking pretty. I best go and buy some new jumpers.

Red sky at night.......but we've had red skies in the morning then had a lovely day which isn't supposed to happen. I'm of the - stick your head out of the window and look at Mochdre hills - to decide what to wear lol

I live in yorkshire, among the yorkies. We have a simple system. we look out the window, see what the locals are wearing, then add a layer.

I'm with the 'old wives tale' side, when I heard Alan Titchmarsh say some years ago, that plentiful berries were a sign of a good Spring, makes sense to me. But still get your logs in Trisha, it's going to be cold enough for the wood burner, that we know for sure

I wonder, have any of our lovely ladies who live in Wales have had snow? It's been really cold here with frost in the morning. No snow. It's looking as though it will be a harsh winter.

Trisha We had huge flakes on Saturday which left the hills with a lovely coating. It didn't last down here though. However, just south of here towards the Brecon Beacons and beyond had some severe weather - roads barely passable. More floods with us. Some roads closed again. I'm hoping the trains are running tomorrow as off to Birmingham for a night.
