I've been missing for a few days as I noticed my cats behaving in a strange way, both of them! They wouldn't walk on any carpeted surfaces, wouldn't go upstairs at all and have only used dining area, hallway (avoiding the rug) and kitchen and even then would be sat on a worktop, bookshelf or table I thought it was really bizarre as they both usually chase up the stairs with us at bedtime. Then I realised they were both having a bit of a scratch and wanted to sit outside in the garden most of the time. I dragged the flea comb through both of them and was shocked as to the army of friends they were both carrying!
Over the last few days, I've had to take up every carpet in the house, 2 bedrooms (1 has floorboards thankfully) Lounge, 4 stairs, 4 landings, all the underlays, miles of carpet gripper, that viscous wooden stuff with teeth, so many staples, enough to open a stationers. 4 trips to the recycling centre (recycled fleas) Am exhausted.
Reason for all this was because all our carpets were wool and those critters love to live in natural fabrics, even if I'd sprayed the whole house with frontline, couldn't get to the underneath and nooks because of the grippers and extra layers of underlay everywhere were forming a barrier.
Cats now treated but having to continually hoover for the next week in all crevices while we decide what to do about flooring. No more carpets though that's for sure.
