I saw an article last weekend about the rain forests in Indonesia being destroyed so that palm oil plantations can be established. The poor orangutans in Borneo are being wiped out along with the Sumatran rhino. I’ve known about this for years and am conscious about buying products with palm oil in but it was only after reading the article that I’ve realised and am shocked to find out it’s in so much confectionery that I love. Kitkats, Twirls, Twix, Cadbury’s chocolate buttons, Oreo biscuits, etc. I am guilty of not reading the ingredients on those packets. Do you read all ingredients on packaging and are there other ingredients that alarm you? From now on I’m on a strict no palm oil rule!

LL, I try not to buy products that contain Palm oil. If I'm not sure, I will email the company to ask. I'm not a lover of chocolate, but when I do buy it I make sure that it's free of Palm oil. If you do a search for 'products that contain Palm oil' you will be amazed!.

One of them was chocolate digestives.

Good for you Trisha. You’re ahead of me on this. I bought a bar of soap at an artisan market which I brought out to use yesterday. Disappointed to read on the package that it contains palm oil. I’ve got a horrid feeling now I’m looking, I will see it more than I expected.
