I’m emptying the old corner cupboard that we have used as a medicine chest for years. It’s got to come down as the walls need a lick of paint. I have thrown lots away due to be being passed it’s best. The oldest is a bottle of calamine lotion which was prescribed to my daughter 17.11.87. It’s gone solid! I also have an old bottle of Iglodine in a box and thinking should I throw that or might it be of value to someone who collects old stuff. Museum, perhaps? Sometimes I can throw out and other times I just dither. Help!

Clearing out is always very cathartic. The medications should be taken to the local pharmacist for free disposal. The iodine must certainly not be used. The stuff actually gains in strength the older it gets, and the strong stuff will take the skin off...

I think your suggestion is still a good one though 6herry as I don’t want to pour all this antispectic down the drain. There’s an out of date bottle of liquid savlon too.

Be careful with the iodine. If you try and pour it down the sink it will give off fumes. I'm not sure how dangerous this would be but I wouldn't risk breathing it in.
