I went round to my mother-in-laws house today for a cup of tea, which tasted musty I thought. I didn't say anything to begin with, but this tea just didn't taste right?
In the end I mentioned it and through a process of elimination by testing boiled water from the kettle, water from the tap and finally boiled water from a pan, we discovered that the Russell Hobbs kettle was the culprit !
My OH googled this and good old Which magazine came up with this specific kettle and being the problem. How can they continue to sell this make or model if it is distinctly tasting the water. The kettle wasn't that old as my MIL buys new kettles and toasters regularly.

That’s an interesting post SunnyDays as I’ve been complaining about the odd taste in my coffee. I have tried neighbours water to see if it tasted different to ours and used a water filter jug to get fresher water. I’ve descaled the kettle! Guess what - it’s a Russell Hobbs! New kettle on order!

What a strange thing. So what is it about the inards of the kettle that do this?
