I’ve got a flu jab booked today and not looking forward to it as I remember some of you saying it had made you unwell in previous years. I’m having it done at the local pharmacy for £12.99 as I’m not entitled yet to a free one. My daughter’s bf had it done a week ago as he has asthma and said his arm ached for a few days but nothing else. Are you having one or had one this year?
Unfortunately our local pharmacy has run out of vaccine, so we can't book one (neither of us are entitled to a free one, so we are at the back of the queue). I HATE injections, but the reassurance of having a flu jab is worth the angst for me, some years I have felt a bit peaky afterwards and my OH has called me a wimp, then last year I was absolutely fine and he felt slightly unwell for about 24 hours afterwards, but it's definitely not as bad as having the flu - it's not a live vaccine that they give you, so it won't actually give you the flu, but sometimes it's just your body's reaction to having the injection - and yes your arm may feel a bit tender afterwards but it's only like having bumped & bruised it .... soon you forget about it.
I had mine two weeks ago. The surgery was so well organized. There must have been fourteen medical staff, each had a clerk with them. I was in and out within five minutes. In one door out of another. It's the first year that I haven't had a sore arm.
