I just adore Autumn because you get to enjoy all those comfort foods
Mashed potato has always been a favourite since I was little. Used to be just plain mashed potato woith a little milk and butter added and seasoning. Seems we are way more creative these days with our mash.
We are having potato, swede and kobocha pumpkin mash tonight, to go with our roast chicken and greens.
What's your best mash recipe?

I like a bit of mustard mash with my (quorn) sausages. Just shove a bit of wholegrain mustard in there and mash it all in.

I like to add carrot or swede as I’m not a fan of plain mash, but we recently bought a sack of Maris Piper’s and they make a nice creamy mash, and tasty roasties, and don’t forget Colcannon 🙂

Try mashing, cauliflower, sweet potatoes and usual potatoes. It's part of a veggie shepherd's pie recipe by Lorraine Pascal. It's delicious. You can actually buy carrot and Swede mash frozen.

I had colcannon for the first time last year and really enjoyed. You have reminded about it. I often do jacket potatoes, scoop out and mash with fried onions, chopped mushrooms and diced bacon. Fill them up again and sprinkle with grated cheese.

Here's one I forgot about..
Equal parts parsnip and potato mashed with butter, creme fraishe and chives, salt and pepper
Last night I used a lasagne tray and mashed 4 different veg, carrot, sweet potato, white potato and pumpkin, then layered it with cheese in the layers, browned in the oven. Then fried some chestnut mushrooms in olive oil and a tiny drop of soy and put them on top when it came out...delicious
