Taking on board what CJ said about finding a happy moment in the day, whilst on hols in past years we have always played Highs & Lows of the day. As said previously, it can be the slightest of things. Under the circumstances,we can discard the low thoughts and just focus on a high point of the day. It can be absolutely anything g that made you feel brighter and lighter in spirit. Today whilst walking Ruben I came across clumps of snowfalls in the hedgerows. They looked beautiful and a sign of Spring and all its newness

Hi Sunnydays what a lovely post... It is beautiful moment isn't it when you start to see those first signs of spring and newness, especially as we are all feeling so low and out of sorts at the moment. One of my highs yesterday was being able to type my first full thread on this forum...albeit a recipe for dumplings as that felt like I was entering into a new place by being able to start contributing to this lovely forum. The other thing that made my day was being sent a video of my chum's daughter's one year old son...he was sat on the bed in the middle of a large pile of rolled up socks, (clean !) his young mum was sat close by , he was picking up the socks and throwing them at his mum, then she was doing the same to him and his chuckles were just delightful...the video was over three minutes long and his chuckles were just getting more and more excited......it is the sort of video that if/when I am feeling a bit grumpy or down, just to watch that will cheer me up I am sure...as you say, simple things.....

Last year I kept two diaries, one for health stuff, day to day stuff and the other for Happy things. I am doing the same again this year too.
eg - a nice walk, letters to and from my sister and friends, finding buds on the apple tree, having snow and I made a snowman and talking to friends on the phone.

What a lovely post. we focus too much on doom and gloom or at least I do.! Yesterday’s highs for me were receiving photos of my youngest grandchild in the USA. They had snow yesterday so he was wrapped up and our they went to play. One photo was him with a snowman they had made. He had seaglass eyes, buttons etc, that my daughter-in-law collected with me in Barbados a few years ago an he was wearing the Thomas the Tank engine hat and scarf we sent my grandson for Christmas.

P.S. didn’t realise that a newbie couldn’t start a post. Maybe it is to protect us from spammers.

Morning girls, I haven't been able to contribute much because of my broken right hand Lancashire lass the last few days I have contributed to a few posts, but only managed a few lines as I am using my left hand on the keyboard...so to be able to do a complete thread felt proper good.
Linda that is such a good idea, on off days it must lift your spirits to read your happy diary.
The image of your little grandchild and the snowman with his colourful hat and scarf bought a big smile to my face Lancashire lass.
Sunnydays...I meant to say also, my chum's grandson is also called Reuben, like your little pooch

I am glad everyone understood that I was chatting about Snowdrops ! Glad your enjoying our little group CJ. It helps to keep us all sane. Your description of the giggling little person sounds just the ticket and can be infectious Lovely to see your little grandson in the snow LL. Modern technology does play a massive plus at times. I took onboard what you said about writing Linda and actually went out and bought some writing paper and a special pen. The art of handwritten work is being lost. My high today, was literally sitting on the old exercise bike (which is outside undercover) in what was a gloriously fresh and sunny February 1st morning, breathing in clean air watching the birds in the hedge and it felt like Spring was not too far off. It felt good. My fur buddy Ruben was lying down next to me. He is more the size of a bear than a pooch Oops sorry B, you are only a few mins ahead of me so missed you. I bet that was nice to hear this morning for your friend.

Took my Ruben for his constitutional today. The fields are so badly flooded that he can swim. I through a stick in the water and he ran in after it. The trouble was that the stick was so sodden with water it sank! He spent ages paddling about looking for it and then submerged his head under water like a duck ! I have never seen him do that before. It did make me smile I had to coax him out in the end as he wasn't for giving up

Good morning Sunnydays your Ruben frolicking and splashing around like that must have been a joy to behold....he must have been a bit soggy when he got out My special part of yesterday was settling down with OH and daughter in the evening, we did a 'scrounging from the fridge' supper, OH made garlic and rosemary saute potatoes to go with it, we put it all on the coffee table in the lounge and settled down to watch three episodes of Alias Grace on Netflix, lovely evening. I am waiting for my first cup of tea of the day, why does that first cuppa of the day seem to taste so much better than others? Normally I make the early morning drinks, so having a cuppa bought to me in bed is a real treat...there are some advantages to having a broken right hand

It is so nice to read normal activities as opposed to reading the news paper! I’m imagining Ruben looking like a duck and chuckling. What’s Alias Grace about? You must be enjoying it Cj if you were binge watching. We’ve almost finished Bridgerton whilst still watching The Great. I’m not particularly liking either but I’ve started so I’ll finish! Yesterday’s high was the sunshine we had and friends dropped by with a condolence card in the late afternoon so it was lovely to have a chat to them, socially distanced of course!

Really loving all your posts 😃 love seeing my Robin flying on to his ‘all day breakfast’ table, which is just a couple feet away from our kitchen window, and munching away, just a few days ago he was joined by another Robin, he flies off to the left and she flies off to the right, last couple of days they both fly to the left, she’s moved in with him 😀

Romantic Robins Jazzy how sweet. Alias Grace is based on a Margaret Attwood novel of the same name LL, based in Philadelphia, mid 1800s, on a true story about a young lady called Grace Marks, it is a bit of a crime thriller too...it is very good, Attwood was a 'supervisory producer' when the series was being made, so it stays pretty close to the book. I won't give any more away just in case you decide to give it a go, we will be watching the last three episodes tonight.

Finished watching Alias Grace on Netflix yesterday, brilliant, can recommend. I was able to have a lovely long chat yesterday with a good chum who has been very ill with shingles, she has been ill for some time. It is a few years since we have been able to get together, and the few times we have been able to speak to each other recently she was sounding very frail, she is 58 and quite a feisty lady, so that was quite shocking. However yesterday she was much like her old self...I could tell she was feeling better as before she called she messaged me to say...'make sure you have a glass of something ready for our chat, it is going to be a long one!' The weather is just flippin' miserable isn't it... but in spite of that, I hope you girls manage to have moments of joy in your day today...xx

I just love a Robin, they don't seem to be so shy, or is it the bright red breast that I seem to notice. Glad to hear that your friend was sounding a little like her old self CJ. Hope you haven't gone through a bottle whilst gossiping My happy moment today is knowing that I am not cooking !!!! We are having a Sainsbury Thai bag for two. We have worked our pal who thoroughly enjoyed himself with puddles and sticks. It has been dry today so the walk wasn't hard work. Busy just knitting away with the fires blazing, an odd glass of rose. Saturday is our lazy day. Enjoy everyone
