Good morning girls we are having our morning cuppa early today as OH wants to have a full DIY day in one of the bedrooms...and he always makes lots of noise whatever the task is . For the first time ever, I have ordered wallpaper without seeing it first...it arrived yesterday and is very pretty and the colour is as I had hoped. It is very simple, nothing flash an all over pattern of honesty leaves, very pale greens and greys on an off white background, very calming for a bedroom...hopefully!! We have been in the house since October, the ground floor was previously a tearoom, so there was lots of remodelling to do...fortunately OH is able to do a lot of it himself, with the help of Youtube, he really enjoys it and is very thorough...and it keeps him busy during lockdown ...which is a wonderful thing! The house is a Georgian terrace town house grade II listed, therefore we had to get permission for converting the tea rooms back into residential accommodation. It was worth doing though, it is a beautiful house with most of the original features. still intact. It had been empty for over 5 years and needs much tlc, but it is just so rewarding putting the dignity and soul back into it Daughter and I will keep out the way, making sure OH has a supply of coffee and chocolate hob nobs at hand. Daughter will be working on a commission she has for designing a web site for a small company, I will be pottering around getting some order back into the house now that I can mostly operate without a sling...still won't be doing the hokey cokey for a while though We have had a lot of snowfall again which has settled and looks very pretty...don't intend going out in it though. What will you girls be up to today? Whatever it is, I hope it is a good day for all of us.

Glad your hand is better CJ - your home sounds lovely, wallpaper sounds very stylish, let us see a picture when it's done. Digestive biscuits are our snack of choice during decorating, it's the only time we buy them really but no DIY project is complete without them Bit of cleaning & laundry for me, a walk, then a bit of crafting - recently treated myself to a Cricut Joy machine (sounds naughty, it isn't!) which draws/cuts paper & card, hoping to make some cards this afternoon for a friend of mine to sell for animal charities she supports, looking forward to indulging in a bit of crafting. Does anyone else have a Cricut - if so I'd love to know what you use it for. Have a good day.

Your new home sounds wonderful Cj, I love a period house. We went from 300 year old cottage (lived there for years), to a Victorian town house and now a 1960s, all good fun going with the original soul of a building. My OH is the hands on and I am the designer, or at least that's what he says, it actually just get's me out of the hard labour and like you, making the tea and supplying loads of encouraging words I am ok at wallpapering though and don't mind it at all, much quicker than painting. Would love to see the finished bedroom, sounds calming from your description
Today, I am giving a 3rd coat to a wall in the lounge grrrr, then i'll get a few more boxes from the garage to unpack, then this afternoon I will draw out a new garden for the back as it is bare, need a fast growing tropical with a few natives but have to be evergreens, any ideas please?
Sounds like you're going to have a nice afternoon too Jax, I've seen your card craft and they are really lovely

Love the description of your house Cj. I don’t envy you clearing out 5 years of dust though! Obviously you’re way passed that stage now. I also envy you having an OH who can do things in the house. Mine is not practical and suffers with back problems so can’t lift anything. He’s actually been to see a consultant this morning and having an mri scan. It’s been on going for 25 ish years now. One of our girls is doing a course, training to be a councillor so every Wednesday morning we are on duty looking after our granddaughter for her. Our kids bought us a Facebook portal for Xmas so we see her on the big tv and she does the same. Daughter sends us today’s lessons from her teacher. It is not easy but today we had fun drawing animals on a whiteboard/easil that belonged to our youngest and which I kept. It was 10 questions to guess the animal then read out the letters. She decided she’d had enough of us so she’s apparently watching a film now and we’re having a coffee. I always do the crossword in the paper so I’ve had my first attempt and will look again after lunch. As it’s a beautiful sunny day all the dust in the house is very visible and the windows look filthy. Think I’ll do some window cleaning this afternoon if I can motivate myself.
You’ve got your work cut out for you Bellatrix. Hope you are both going to hav before and after photos to show.
Never heard of a Cricut Jax.

Sounds like a very busy day for you LL, you must have loads of patience. 25 years of back problems for you OH must be so stressful and a nightmare...for you both...one of the most painful things I think. I do love a nice card jax2, I will send a card for anyone reason, I can't pass a card display without a good rummage, you are very talented to be able to produce something like that, very artistic. Lots of work for you too then Bellatrix, I know it may be sexist, but I do think that, generally we ladies are better at the 'design' side of a refurb, I think our imagination can assess what the overall effect will look like depending on our choices. Guys just don't seem to get it until everything is in it's place and the colours have been applied to walls and furnishings, then we are likely to get the...'glad you took my advice on the wallpaper/paint/carpet/' etc etc . This morning when OH unrolled the first roll of wallpaper he said 'I like this wallpaper, glad you decided to order the one I liked from B&Q, much nicer than the one you were looking at online' ...to which I replied...'actually this is the one I was looking at online, you told me you didn't like as it was pale and boring '.. . ...good thing I don't do as I am told eh? I will post some photos, just a bit concerned as I know we are an open forum, is there a 'space' on the forum where guests would not be able to view them?

Cj - your new home sounds lovely, a feel good project, and the wallpaper sounds gorgeous too, I am always the tea maker in OH’s support team, well, I’m the only person in his support team to be honest 😀 post your photos in ‘behind closed doors’ once you can get in there, looking forward to seeing them 👍
Jax - I had to look up a circuit joy, still haven’t got a clue, but what a thoughtful idea to help your friend 👏👏👏

Not sure what season you need to be to unlock the door Cj as this is a recent change, but it's to do with post counts so I'm sure you're heading that way quite quickly. Love before and afters and anything creative that people have done.
I'm not worried about the sexist aspect, I use the "girl card" to my advantage mercilessly, get's me out of anything too strenuous and makes OH feel very special, wouldn't want to take that away from him
..he chose the wallpaper! that's a great story,
There are a couple of guys on HGTV who I love to watch Nate and Jeremiah by design, love their interior rescues of people, but get what you mean in general men don't see the bigger picture.
I'm wanting to make a blind for my Kitchen/diner, can't find anything wide enough or the right design for my 60s/70s scheme. I'm not worried about making the blind but does anyone have an opinion on the type of fabric, canvas, oilcloth?

So, the forum has a secret 'Narnia' door...how cool is that?... Will have to check that design programme out Bellatrix, I enjoyed watching the American programme Fixer Upper with Jo and Chip, very entertaining. There is a new programme called Interior Design Masters on BBC 2, with Alan Carr as one of the 'hosts'...it is an interior design version of Bake Off, I haven't managed to see it yet, apparently Alan Carr is very funny in it...must try and catch up with it. With your new home are you going for a 60s/70s vibe?...that would be awesome...no polystyrene ceiling tiles though I am guessing. Re your blind, have you considered having a rummage around the charity shops searching for old/vintage curtains? If the curtain/s had enough material, it may be possible to make a Roman blind for your window ...I have made roman blinds and they are fairly straight forward...must be for me to have a go! The quality of old curtains is often far better than modern, and usually they are lined, many of the charity shops dry clean them before they go on display, especially during these pandemic times.

Absolutely Cj, just through the coats and you're there
Yes, we are going for a 60s 70s vibe but not a "themed" thing, just a 60s, Danish, hippy mash up, if you can picture that
We watched a lot of Fixer upper, too much really, until Chip started getting too silly and the designs seemed to be too similar in each home. I like "Good Bones" with Nina and Karen, they have a nice eclectic style as does "Home Town". Alan Carr is hilarious, the program is similar to the Great interior design challenge.
In Narnia, you'll find photos of the house re-done that we recently moved from and photos of the mess we just bought, so you're before and afters will find a nice home there and look forward to seeing them

Your home Cj sounds so interesting and I absolutely love properties with character. You can buy everything on-line these days. I use a fabric showroom that mainly stocks end of line fabrics. It is in Oswestry a town between VW and myself but they sell mainly on-line. textileexpressfabrics.co.uk has masses of fabrics and all haberdashery on-line starting at reasonable prices to more luxurious, textured heavy upholstery, some of which I have used for curtains too. You may find something of interest there B. Often they have fabric at double the width, which is easier to use when making blinds as the fabric may be wide enough not to seam.

Well, let's just say I am glad it's Friday and nearly large g and small t time, Oh has decided he is going to use lining paper on the walls first as they are not flush and have a few bumps in places...I have lots of bumps meself and am no way near as old as the house, not quite anyway...still, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do and all that, could take some time.
