Had my jab , Pfizer, no side effects at all, OH will have his soon hopefully, he is younger than me...one time for me to be pleased about being the 'older woman' There is an amnesty in place for 'undocumented immigrants' BT www.infomigrants.net/en/post/30161/vaccine-amnesty-in-uk-for-undocumented-migrantsI just hope the info is out there for them to access within the community and without having to go online, I am concerned about the homeless too as they may not be on anyone's system, although I am sure the shelters and the Salvation Army will be making sure they can get the jab somehow.

Thanks for clearing that up Cj and the information. It was something that crossed my mind. Must be terrifying being in a country when you know you are off the radar and no access to something as important as this. Good to hear there is an amnesty for those people
Good to hear you had your Jab with no ill effects
I get mine at the beginning of April, so really happy to get that news.

OH had his Oxford/Astra Zeneca jab last night, no side-effects at all - he says his arm doesn't even hurt, so don't be put off!

We both had ours last week and no issues at all. My sister in law in the Philippines has hers today - the Chinese one. Her brother had it last week and ended up in A&E but he’s fine now. I think some people are a bit more sensitive than others!

Why did he go to A&E Beckyboo?

Why did he go to A&E Beckyboo? He had a strong reaction to the vaccine - not life threatening or anything but nasty all the same - he went home the next day and is fine

Do you think I'm stressing unnecessarily... I've got my jab next week, which is great. But my family, Dad, both brothers have had blood clot conditions in past years. Reading about the blood clot issues (possibly) with Oxford astra zenneca one. Should I tell them on the day it could be a genetic thing in my family? I've personally no medical condition with blood clots but I now can't stop worrying

If it's worrying you, why don't you see if you can have a word with your GP rather than wait until the day. I'm sure they'll put your mind at rest, but if they think for any reason it's relevant then they can discuss your options.

I was asked questions when I had my jab Bellatrix so you will have the opportunity to discuss it and make a discussion. Phoning 119 might be an option and/or your GP.

Hubs has gone very antivaccer. He was trying to explain to me how the AstraZeneca vaccine causes clots but I have a science background and I used to be a haematologist and my degree was in genetics. He however is a very talented linguist but clueless about science. The explanation he gave me only made sense if he was talking about the RNA vaccines which the AZ one is not.
I’ve also heard that no more people developed blood clots than would have anyway. It appears that this may be one of those ways where stats are being used to confuse us.
I can’t prove anything but that’s my point of view anyway. I had the AZ one and I didn’t even have a sore arm.

Like Magggzzz I have had no symptoms whatsoever. I had my Jab last night B and I have to say obviously those thoughts did run through my mind They get you to fill in the form and go through the questions again. Very thorough and very quick. I took a couple of paracetamol when I got home as advised and drank loads of water.
Like the others have mentioned if you are concerned a quick call will help. The numbers are so small, I do feel that Europe have badly managed the vaccine roll out, and causing unnecessary problems.

A couple, neighbours, had theirs yesterday and were told by one of the staff that people were refusing to have the jab there once they found out it was AZ. Their daughter is working at the Manchester Etiad vaccination centre and they have found the same thing happening there. Great, however, that the numbers vaccinated in the last couple of days has been so high regardless of AZ objections. Europe now entering a third wave with such a slow vaccine roll out. If what had happened there happened here, Boris and Matt would be getting bashed left, right and centre!

I'm glad I posted my worries to you girls, I didn't want to come across as a scaremonger as I do believe in the vaccine program. I wouldn't have been concerned if the men in my family hadn't had blood clot issues, it's just one of those things that dawns on you and grows bigger in your head.
Thank you for your positive vaccination stories about the AZ, I think that's the one being used in this area as a friend of mine had it a few days ago. She felt a bit "off" for 24 hours and was then fine. I remember having a typhoid vaccination before going to Mexico, that had me sweating and shaking like a jelly in my bed for 2 days

I can understand how the RNA vaccine works. I’ve read quite a bit about it and while it seems like a great idea it’s very new and really quite ingenious. It’s different from anything that has been used on humans before.
The AZ one while still having been genetically manipulated still is much the same as any other vaccine. All in all I’m glad I had the AZ one. It’s not as if I had any choice anyway.
However although I know enough about this stuff to be able to just about understand what they’re talking about my knowledge is old and way out of date.
