Sorry to say on such a sunny morning! We have been watching a squirrel over the last few days digging holes in our lawn and burying his nuts! Is that a sign of a hard winter ahead as the weather has been glorious?

Ella, we have seen flocks of birds circling in the sky. They looked as though they were checking their inbuilt satnavs before they set off on their long journey south. Lots of morning dew as well. One of our neighbours has a privet hedge that is flowering. Dad always said that was the sigh of hard winter. Also, the sweep has just been!!

I wouldn't rely on squirrels for a weather forecast Ella, I don't think they are very intelligent, but bury nuts this time of year, just incase, and then forget where they buried them.
Still glorious weather here too, but we are already preparing for winter, stacking one side of the barns with straw for animal winter bedding, sleeping quarters are in the middle, and soon the other side will have hay stacked high for winter animal feed, best to be organised with this and then we feel reassured, never know which way the weather will turn.

The Guardian is reporting fantastic Autumn colours due to the wet spring and sunny days since then. They are saying that we could have prolonged colour into November as long as there are no storms or severe frosts. How exciting!

I'm so relieved the heat has stopped, we moved on one of the hottest days of the year, it was murder! I had two cats in my car crying their little eyes out in the heat. Everyone who helped unload the lorry was dripping from top to bottom in sweat and exhausted. I loved the heat when I was a child but I guess that's because I didn't have to work in it. The autumn is a much nicer season for me

6herry, I hope this is the start of an Indian summer for you. It's very warm here, close and tiring.

Forgot to mention that having only moved house 2.5 weeks ago and having cats, we have had to have all the windows and doors kept shut until they get used to their new surroundings. It's usually advised that you keep them in for 4 weeks, so that is why we are suffering with the heat. I have never known it to be so hot in these parts at this time of the year!

Sweltering today - hubby says it was 31C in our village and I can believe it! I've had to keep the children in this afternoon as worried it's too hot for them! We have actually started Christmas shopping yesterday B

A girl after my own heart Beckyboo:)
It's crazy temperatures and children get so irritable in the heat (as does my husband), your temperature beat my temperature, think we were about 27 yesterday!

It was a lovely day yesterday but by 3pm we had heavy rain which continued up until 7pm. The temperature was no where near the highs that you had. I was too busy mopping up indoors to enjoy the morning sunshine, as a central heating pipe had burst upstairs and completely soaked one of our sofas and carpet.

It is glorious today though. Lovely warm day, but with a breeze preventing over heating
