Have you ever experienced tin foil melting and forming holes on your food? This happened on the sausage and bacon rolls that were covered and placed in the fridge in readiness for Xmas day dinner. DIL and I scraped it off the bacon before cooking but I would like to know what caused it and were we safe to eat them.

How strange - never heard of that before but I'm pretty sure if you did happen to eat a bit of foil, it wouldn't cause harm...

Yes, this happened to me with some ham, and I have never used foil again as a cover, I don't know why this occurs but the only explanation I thought was that anything with a fat content reacts with the foil and melts it, I use plastic tubs to store everything now.

I read some years ago about using aluminium pans for cooking and that there was a link to Alzheimer's.
