How do you get it off from around taps? We have a brand new bathroom sink and already, scale is developing around the tap, even though every day I have been wiping it vigorously. Even swearing hasn't had any effect.

I never had much luck with vinegar, so will try the lemon first. Thanks.

Used to have a dreadful time with hard water 6herry, a new kettle would fur up within a couple of days. My OH used one of those round steel balls to clean up the taps.

My daughter lives in London where there is hard water and limescale is a big problem. She uses Viakal which she says works well for her.

If you use white vinegar, you have to heat it first (open your window and wear gloves !), then dip a piece of cloth or tissue paper into it, wrap it around the tap and wait at least for 2 hours. Use an old toothbrush to remove the scale and rinse.
