Most people who try to introduce a new cat to a resident cat, know how difficult it can be. Following all the rules of introduction and using the usual pheromone products, don't guarantee success. In fact we wasted a lot of money on plug ins and sprays We did the above and after nearly 3 months our cat who used to be very sweet natured still turned into a monster everytime she saw our new little chap. We thought we were getting somewhere when we managed to get them to eat together, only to have her pounce on him as soon as she had finished her food. We had started to segregate them nearly all the time because it was easier than having to try and get them to be friends and I was getting really fed up with the battle! Then I came across Royal Canin Feline CALM cat food. I honestly bought it as a last resort and really didn't think it would work as nothing else had. After a week, I saw a marked difference, my girl started to be more inquisitive than hissy, after another week she started to chase him around without growling at him, seemingly playful. After 4 weeks...they are chums I really wish I knew about it sooner and saved myself so much agro. I have no monetary interest with this company so am only putting it out there because it has been the only thing that has actually worked and after reading on the internet of so many people having problems with their cats not getting on, thought this would be helpful. I feed them 40gms each at night time and give them wet food in the day, it's worked

This cat food sounds a really great idea B, glad to hear that your two are more friendly now, they look very cute in your photos, is the black one featured in your avatar, which I think looks so sweet, just peeping around the wall?

I'm so relieved No It's not my cat in the avatar Jazzy, but he's a handsome chap whoever he is Very funny LL, wouldn't life be so sweet if we had the same for humans. I'm sure I heard they put lithium in the water supply in Japan for similar effect on the people as there was a lot of depression. I could have got that wrong though

I wish I had tried that food with Ghost. Tried everything else. She ate with the other two but still chased and beat them up. She is now sharing a cage in a rescue with an older cat and is not aggressive so the rescue staff think she was jealous of the kittens and needs to be homed in a house on her own. Pleased you sorted your problem out Bellatrix.

Thank you Badpuss, shame about Ghost though I really had exhausted every other avenue. I don't know if anyone remembers this, but I had the same problem with my very old cat and the white one and had to keep them separate in the end until my old cat passed away. I had tried everything with those two also but didn't know about this food at that time. I was thinking that history was going to repeat itself again when I came across this food. Can't believe the difference it has made. Still giving it to them and they now follow each other everywhere and snuggle on the bed together for a kip Now they are used to each other and used to getting on, I may half the amount I give them and increase the wet food and see if they still stay friends.
