This year we have numerous spiders in the house. Small ones as well as the huge ones that run at 100 miles an hour. Yesterday I think I removed at least 10 from our hallway. The day before 3 big spiders and the day before that, etc. What’s going on? Is it just my house? Where I get my nails done, has conkers in every corner and a big bag hanging on the door handle. I googled up about spiders and conkers and found a report that said a school in Cornwall had done a research project and found spiders don’t avoid conkers so it’s a load of old .......!
HELP!

You are not alone LL, me too, had lots this year, I seem to have spindly leg ones all year as well, there was a thread on the old WT and I think peppermint oil was mentioned as a deterrent, the way those big ones gallop around my sitting room at night, just as I am relaxing, I don't think peppermint would have much of an effect.

We have a huge one in our sitting room. I don't mind them, so he is left as is. As long as he stays off of me. I heard they are more commonly spotted at this time of year as they are frequently avoiding the female, who wants to eat them following fertilisation...

Oh yes - they are everywhere!!! I moved the throw that's on the sofa last night and an enormous one ran from under it!!!! It's bad enough that they run around the floor, but to be up on my sofa is a whole new ball game!! Little beggars!! They seem to be coming inside in much bigger numbers this year and are huge!!! Not impressed lol

We also have lots of spiders. I can cope if they run across the living room and then hide. I really don't like it if they run off in the bedroom. Light off, light on - no spider. Light off etc I'm sure you can follow the pattern. VW it's when they run off with the remote that you need to get firm.

Keep the batteries and the remote separate..........

When we had a cat, I used to regularly see her with a leg or two in the corner of her mouth! We should get another cat, this year they are wearing boots!

You girls have had me laughing I am now looking around my room very tentatively as I don't see why I should be the only one without spiders. We have cat's let's hope they do a good job if any appear. I heard "somewhere" that this year we are going to have a large amount of spiders and big ones too. My MD said she and her boyfriend found 2 monster spiders in their bedroom! thick legs and big bodies, she said they squished one with a side plate and the legs were sticking out the sides but I don't know if I believe that

Poor old big spiders, they wander in to our homes quite innocently, then get squashed and squidged, I have a one pint beer glass, empty, I add, by my side in the sitting room in the evenings these last few weeks, easy to place over him/her and then send them on their way in the garden next morning, I am scared of them, so this is quite an act of bravery on my part , spindly leg spiders are a different matter altogether (the ones with really long skinny legs and tiny bodies), can't bear them, hoover wins over beer glass every time.

I accidentally stepped on a frog that was on our doormat a few weeks ago as I was coming in but didn't notice till we went out again - sorry frog lovers!

We used to have a garden big enough for a ride on mower. I once spotted something gleaming red as I was cutting the grass.
I go out to look closer and it was half a toad, it had got underneath the mower in the longer grass. Being camouflaged, I hadn't seen it.
