Today I found out how to take apart (and put back together) my Dyson hand-held vacuum cleaner - I didn't realise I could dismantle it to clean in the awkward to reach parts (just thought the design was a bit daft!). Have you discovered anything life-changing or just really useful thanks to the internet? PS: Gives you an insight into how exciting my Sunday morning has been

If I can't decipher instructions, I always turn to you tube. It's funny isn't it, I can't recall any of the things that I have done.

Great isn't it Jax. I guess you are a visual person either that or you'd lost your instructions
I prefer to learn by watching, especially when it comes to mechanical things. Youtube helped me thread up a very old sewing machine I had, it's an industrial one with no instructions and I just couldn't figure out the threading
We have a Delonghi (sp) coffee maker, OH and I just couldn't understand the manual when we had to descale it,the controls are really unusual too, so took to youtube and found someone demonstrating how to do it, even so, wasn't straight forward.
I'm going to watch some videos on tile painting this week

So many manuals are pants! I always look for YouTube videos to help me. How to prune a climbing Rose was very helpful. How to put a child seat in the car was extremely helpful. I do think though that there are a load of people making videos who are useless and whose videos should be removed. The ones who chitter and chatter and take ages getting to the point!

ohhhhh my gosh..... yes, you can find anything on that site!!!! I watched on UTube the making of a water/heater boiler that can heat up a house. (.. what? ) YES YOU READ ME RIGHT.... I am sure it was the one right before how to take apart your Dyson vacuum! I actually was interested in who invented the boiler in 1874 !!!! my in laws in Chicago have lived in the same house for 70 years and last year replaced the house water heater!!!! I am excited to tell them everything I have learned..

Bellatrix is quite right, I am definitely a visual learner - I just can't work out instruction books at all - but I also struggle with maps too, I have to turn them round so they are facing the way I am going (if that makes sense). Fortunately my daughter & my husband are great at both these things!

Do you mean you can make a water boiler yourself AnnaD?, that would be a great project for a DIYer.
YD can't get her head around maps either Jax, so you're not alone

I find You Tube great for instructions too - when I decided to get back into crochet I used it as had forgotten loads of stitches. Some great tutorials there for pretty much anything.

Haha, well done Jax, I desperately need someone to show me how to put a photo on here, written instructions are not my forte, I am also petrified of getting it wrong and feeling an idiot, much rather have a demonstration and then there is no stopping me, you'll regret asking for photos then, I'll be bombarding you .................I jest. I want to learn to knit, I knitted a scarf as a youngster, but I want to knit some dolly jumpers for my grand daughter, I'll be on YouTube to learn, just can't remember how to cast the stitches on
