I've found it quite difficult to get connected for a few days. Keeps saying my password is not correct (though it is) ...try and try twice, 3 times, have to click to prove I'm a human (Am I, indeeed?) - and then, suddely, "Ok" . Not your fault, of course, but Proboards!

jax : mainly remember Al Pacino in "The Godfather" LLCC: Onlyvg the 1rst stanza of La marseillaise is usually played; 1st and 2nd when sung (on Bastille day, for instance). Quite fierce, isn't it!

This link is perfect, except for the use of olive oil and lemon juice ! Never ! Any vegetable oil, and vinegar (wine or cider vinegar ) I also add a few loves and a laurel leaf to the marinade. And no salt in the "vinaigrette", the herrings will be enough ! My secret tip : pour a small glass of dry white wine (muscadet) on the hot potatoes . Described as "a starter" , but at home, can easily be a main dish.
Trisha, don't know what it's like in the Uk ... Here, we have "Emmaus", founded in the50s/60s by Abbé Pierre, it used to collect and resell in their stores what you didn't want to keep, which provided jobs for unemployed (and even homeless people) ... Later, you had to pay if you wanted them to come and pick up your items. And, not long ago, a friens was tolds they were no longer interested in "collecting", but prefered money donations ! What a pity !
magggzzz : Feel sorry and sympathise ! When my mother passed away, my parents had lived for about 70 years in the same house and were the kind ofpeople who "stored". I lived some 100kms away, their furniture didn't agree with my own, so ... First "ordeal", had to have the value of it estimated (heritance tax) by an auctionner ...the value he stated was inferior to his commisssion. Waited for some time, had to decide to sell, and, by that time, Covid lockdown rules, so, apart from very few things I could spare, give to my mother's friends and neighbours, I had to pay for everything to be emptied ... And , well, yes, somehow felt guilty. Specially because some things (specially books, records) could have made someone hapy, if I had had time and opportunities to advert on EBay. ...But it wasn't possible. So, as your friend says, don't feel guilty. XOXO
Thanks for your answer. I love Italian "pasta", and French "pâtes" (very often, egg is included in the paste) ! But also, Asian noodles, Japanese "Udon" , Soba, Ramen ... And love to cook them, too. Wish you "Bon appétit" for your dinner
"Hoops" : is it "pasta", "anelli" in Italian? Seem very popular in the Uk, saw there are tins of cooked hoops (Heinz, Sainsbury) ... and have never seen them in French stores, though I only buy Italian pasta. Hope you enjoyed your meal ! I had lunch with friends at our favourite Asian restaurant ( about once a week), today, chose "roasted duck 5 spices".
