Hellooooo...... Can see people logging in but not saying hi - come on everyone, come back please lol It's so quiet and I think right now, more than ever, we need to keep talking. I miss our chats, and as I am stuck alone at work for 9 hours a day, plus on my own most evenings I miss you all!! What's everyone up to? Any news, gossip???
Hello VW, I'm here! I think that everyone is pretty much down in the dumps. I'm not really doing very much apart from reading and crossword puzzles. Just before this lockdown, I was accepted, as a volunteer, at a local school to help primary school pupils to practise their reading. My criminal record check had come through and I was ready to start. The lockdown has stopped that. I'm hoping by the time the new term starts in September they will have everything in place. I spend a lot of time on my own, so tend to go for a walk. I am determined not to succumb to day time television. I don't put the tv on until 6. I have just cut out some fabric for a face mask. I am presently using one of those scarves that you pull over your head, I'm not sure that will be acceptable. I hope that you are not struggling too must with pain from your clavicle.

Hi VW, Trisha and Linda. I’m around and about too. Fed up with the situation and see no quick finish so yes I’m agreeing with being down in the dumps and with very little to chat about. I’m still painting kitchen chairs and now disappointed to find a few chips already. I think we need some sunshine to lift all our spirits again.
Coooeeey, I'm here but must admit to being AWOL most of the week. Brothers Birthday, so went to spend afternoon in the garden over at his, was so nice to see people, even though I am a bit of a recluse, I have to mix sometimes, to reaffirm why I'm a recluse
I've been painting too LL but not furniture for a change or walls. I've been painting pictures, well let's call it abstract. Canvas and Acrylics. I come from a family of artists, classical artists, never any modern art in our house as a child, so I grew up thinking that was the only true art. I'm no good at painting figuritively or realism, but have really enjoyed myself anyway. They're for me, so no one will get the chance to laugh at my efforts. Think Kandinsky/Rothko and it's sort of going that way
Hope I haven't missed any birthdays ......
Been pacifying my mum this morning..NASA have announced that there is another astrological sign, a 13th sign, that the Babylonians ommitted from the original wheel of astrology, they say because they couldn't be bothered to do the maths, as this sign (The snake bearer) didn't come in to play for enough days. So that means if they squeeze this sign between 2oth November and 17th December then everyones birth sign is going to change. Mums been studying astrology for years and I think she was nearly going to burst with anger "you can't just throw another sign in!!" There is no way I'm going to swap being a Pisces for an Aquarian (no offence Aquarius)
There is a lot to be said for being part of a group, and the support and friendship that is gained from this.
2 of my girls are Taurus VW, heels dug in, horns down, they will not be moved which is a good thing because they won't be talked into things they don't want to do. I've learnt to tread carefully and pick my moment very creative people though, very talented...like yourself

Not sure where the time has been going, nothing very interesting to report I'm afraid but pleased to say we have all kept well here. I'm thinking of painting a piece of furniture which we have in our hallway, it's just a storage unit with baskets in it but it was cream when I bought it and seems to have gone a bit more yellow - thinking of chalk paint maybe (because I'm lazy and can't be bothered with the sanding etc) but can't decide what colour. I've been trying to walk at least 10,000 steps a day ... got really into listening to podcasts while I'm pounding the streets, there's some really interesting ones that I've enjoyed (especially some true crime stories).

Jax, I’ve been painting kitchen chairs with eggshell. I’m rather disheartened because there have been several chips already. I thought I was doing it all properly by sanding down then priming with 2 coats and 3 of eggshell. A friend told me yesterday that an expert told her to use emulsion as it soaks into the wood better. Not that this helps you! Good luck.
To whet my appetite for painting I spent yesterday painting our garden fence panels .... was knackering but made me realise my hall unit would be a doddle in comparison
Morning ladies!!! I have had some good news. I am so chuffed. I get to have a new work colleague from September. She will be working three days a week and has years of experience in this trade. Met her on Monday and we got on straight away. So took the bull between the horns and asked my boss about reducing my hours. He has agreed, so as soon as she is settled I will be dropping my Fridays. Still have to work every other Saturday but it means a long weekend every other, and 4 whole days off a month!!! I can take mum out more, see friends for a cuppa and catch up, or a day out walking or exploring. It means such a lot, and if things work out as planned I hope to reduce by another day in the future. Little steps but they all help.......
