My OS is going to stay with his girlfriend in China on the 28th Dec. I'm so jealous. He's going to have a fantastic time. We need to send presents over with him though. We need something for his girlfriend from us and parents and also something for her parents. These presents have to be light and British. It's the parents I'm struggling with. I've met them once. They don't speak English and OH was too ill to go so that was a strange experience. Her father looks like a Bond villain but her mother was tiny and so pretty. Ideas I've had so far are 1:a small hamper of Christmas and typically British sweets and food items eg a small Xmas cake and some nice chocolates and biscuits. 2:If we can get to the van then a framed print of the Welsh mountains.
I like your hamper idea but check out what foods can be taken into China Magggzzz as some countries have very strict laws. I'm just back from America and you can't take meat, dairy and other stuff in there. What about a tea towel with British or Welsh views which would be a bit of a naff present if anyone gave me a tea towel but if foreign then I think it's more interesting. Or what about a fold up bag? There must be some about that have views of here. Gloves, socks, scarf?
I'll make sure and check. Thanks for the warning. They live in Harbin, also known as the ice city where temperatures can reach -30 so perhaps not scarf or gloves. in fact OS has been told he'll have to take everything with him as nothing he could buy in China would be big enough for him. He's 5'9" and not particularly big built but they're all so tiny there. You should have seen her mum. I felt like a whale.
Carrying on on the tea towel theme Magggzzz Harrods do some you can buy on-line and I would have thought everyone knows Harrods. You can also buy cute biscuit tins from there too if you are allowed to carry in food, but like Ella I would be dubious about this.
