What is it with dads. My dad would constantly go on about closing doors, slamming doors and turning lights out. 10 o'clock was always 'ah well' time. He would go into the kitchen for a shave, that was a sign that we all had to go to bed. I'm feeling a bit nostalgic today, it I keep busy it will go.

If we are talking about Dads then what comes to my mind is that mine would have a cigar on Christmas Day after our dinner. He used to let me "puff" on it! My mum always said I could wrap him around my finger and so got away with all sorts!
Another memory I have is of counting Christmas trees through the windows of other people's homes, to pass the time as we drove to relatives.
My dad was always on about the lights too and constantly moaning about empty aerosols/bottles left in the bath room. He used to take us kids over the common to play cricket on a Sunday in the nice weather and sailing on the river. We would sail, he would shout orders from the bank. He would only wash up once a year, that would be on Christmas Day and seemed to want a medal for it. Actually it was all us kids and him washing up but as I remember it, he only used to stack the dishes back in the cupboard after we'd washed them. He loved cheese and pickles at supper times, sergeant Majors tea and rabbit pie on Christmas morning. He told me tall stories when I was little, one was "his family didn't have a donkey to turn the water wheel for the well, so he was strapped to it all day" load of rubbish, they never had a well!
My memories, like you girls, at the moment are all about my dad, probably because he is no longer with us and memories are all I have of him ( say that with fondness and a smile on my face).
My friends, as I have discovered myself, there are no disasters, only opportunities. And, indeed, opportunities for fresh disasters.
Dad used to empty the teapot straight in the drain outside, not down the sink. We watched him through the window coz when he was coming back he walked as if he was going down steps and he got shorter and shorter in height, pulling a silly funny face at the same time, it made us laugh.
