I like a carpet in the lounge, it's more cosy and even though I wear slippers most of the time in the house, I find our tiled kitchen floor really too cold (nice in the Summer though when I'm doing a load of ironing and can keep my feet cool)
We've just had an engineered wood floor laid, it looks fantastic but I'm a bit nervous about how to look after it and make sure I don't damage it.
It replaces a very cheap laminate floor, which I used to clean with my steam cleaner. I've seen some kits in Lakeland for mops with a spray attached which container some kind of wood cleaner - has anyone used one, or can you recommend anything else?
I am not a fan, my sister however posts her whole life on it .... probably why I am not keen .... she is trying to promote herself and her business but it just gets on my nerves. My kids rarely use it these days (they were the whole reason I went on it in the first place, to see what they were posting), they say it's for middle aged people (they prefer Instagram ... whatever that is!).
I'm also not on Twitter or Linked In .... I really don't want people from my dim & distant past to be able to look up what I'm doing now, I value my privacy.
Sorry to come late to this VWC, I am sorry you've been unwell ... real flu is a horrible thing and often people who have a nasty cold think they have flu, but real flu just keeps you a prisoner in your bed and it takes a few weeks to properly feel back to yourself. Fingers crossed you've turned the corner now. I have had flu a few times so the last couple of years have had the jab .... I hate needles so it's been slightly traumatic, but the local pharmacist is a lovely chap and he is very kind and sympathetic (and only charges £10) and touch wood (hope I'm not tempting fate here!) I've not got it since I've been vaccinated (although that may be luck, apparently it's not more than 30-60% effective).
What a boring world it would be if we agreed with each other all the time, but I think as reasonable adults we should be able to discuss things without necessarily agreeing or holding the same viewpoint. I would never want to deliberately cause anyone offence, but sometimes agreeing to differ is ok.
Wow! Just logged on for the first time in a few days and saw the message from badpuss2. What can I say! I have obviously missed a lot of the comments she refers to. I do not recognise a lot of the things she says, as for cliques, I don't know who she's referring to because clearly I haven't been invited to join any!
As she's left, she presumably won't be reading this, but if she is then I wish her health & happiness in the future and hope she gets what she wants from other forums if she is not happy with this one.
The rest of you .... I love you all, I work almost full-time, we've had builders in the house for the last 5 months and I don't get as much time as I used to for checking out posts on here, if that causes anyone offence then sorry, but sometimes life gets in the way.
What I do agree with, is that Moi and Trisha are true ladies.
I bought a big box of tea bags yesterday which used to be wrapped in cellophane, but this time wasn't. It may be a coincidence but a lot of the boxes appeared to be squashed out of shape, I wonder whether it will put customers off.
Is this the supply & demand principle .... fewer people use mail (preferring emails/texts etc) so Royal Mail have to charge those that do a higher price for their service?
I am a little confused about something, we were encouraged to substitute paper towel (which got thrown away) for microfibre cloths which could then be washed and re-used, but are these causing fibres to be shed during washing which go into the water system?
No Lancashire Lass, I've not looked at the stuff for years. It's going out
Good for you Linda, I find it's the things from years ago which are the hardest to part with, but I am really into de-cluttering at the moment so there's no place for them in my home any more.
Hey Moi, hope you treated yourself - to some flowers/wine/chocolate or whatever floats your boat.
I got a card and some flowers, then had a romantic dinner .... for 3! My 25 year old son (who still lives with us) didn't go the gym as he usually does in the evening because he has hurt his back, he isn't seeing his girlfriend until tomorrow, so I felt it would be a loving gesture to include him! Now the two of them are sitting watching the football on tv
Having benefitted from the National Health System in the UK, which isn't perfect but does an amazing job, I couldn't understand why Obama Care wasn't welcomed with open arms by the population in the USA.
