So magggzzz why do you need a pressure cooker for soup? I always thought a pressure cooker was used if you were cooking something that was probably tough & needed a long time cooking or am I totally wrong?
Lin that's fantastic, with so many elderly people suffering from loneliness, I think that is wonderful that you've helped organise a monthly get together .... good on you lady!
Be careful if you try something like this. Make sure there are at least 15 volunteers and only look after a max of 2 per volunteer because more than 2 takes too much time, we use male volunteers as well, my hubby helps me when it is my turn to deal with a lady in a wheelchair as I am hopeless breaking it down & loading it!!!
This could be a bit of a hornets nest really. Wearing animal skins which have been bred only for the fur when there are alternatives to wear. Eating animals which have been bred only for the meat when there are alternatives to eat.
I think we can all be charged with hypocrisy in some way.
So if you are vegan and avoid all things associated with animals and wear cotton or synthetic clothing and PVC shoes, anything man made then adds to the toxic landfill unless you are an ardent recycler , adding more problems to the planet.
This is what I meant in another post about our country Ella, we change our laws to accommodate different cultures.... would other countries change theirs to accommodate our culture?
Para 1 - guilty
Para 2 - guilty I wear leather shoes, leather handbags, leather belts, leather coat, leather sofas & armchairs
>:( 6herry, I think my miss dangerous is on its way. The library that our granddaughter goes to is under threat of closure. The plan at the moment is to stand outside the council offices chanting. Lots of oldies call into the library for a chat, if it were to close they could go for days without speaking to anyone. :-[ Our aim is to go down fighting!
Trisha
Exactly what we found in our library. A group of us went to talk to a well known supermarket in the high street and 2 or 3 other food producing places and got contributions of doughnuts, coffee etc on a monthly basis and using a small part of the library every Tuesday our elderly residents get together for a chat, a doughnut & coffee/tea. I pop in to take shopping orders for "heavy" items like washing powder for 4 each week & deliver when I take them home. There are 15 of us who volunteer and we are all in the same sort of age group 69 upwards but we are very lucky to still have husbands and our health, able to drive, etc. Good for you, I salute your effort and I hope you win.
CNN & BBC World this morning say leaving the EU has to be approved by parliament.
If they vote to stay does that mean second referendum ?
No I don't think so, there has been a legal challenge but the Government is going to the Supreme Court I think to get the Judges' ruling overturned, whether they can or can't we will know later in December but there will not be a 2nd referendum. The people have spoken and despite the views of the champagne commies of the media and the extreme left and yappy little nonentities like Tim Farron that is the view of our Government.
Switzerland is thriving, Norway and Iceland are not members either. Iceland is supposed to have the lowest crime rate in the world, people can still leave their babies outside in prams and their doors unlocked......I want to live in Iceland:)
The other story hilighted where British people are pleading for Barack Obama to come to the UK to be Prime Minister is laughable, could only be the "Ls", the question is which??
I read this yesterday and is is quite alarming - her success rate is about 85% if I remember right??
My biggest problem with Hillary Clinton is her reaction to her husband's misdemeanors. I would have been out the door so fast and I definitely would not have continued to be First Lady and forgiven him. They point the finger at Trump but they don't look at themselves first. Wonder how much dosh Monica Lewinski got in return for her "work" for Bill Clinton???
I have this theory that polls are useless. People will say what seems to be the most popular thing but it's different when they get into the secrecy of a polling booth. In our house we think it's a good thing Trump won. Did you know he funded all his campaign himself and he's also not taking his half million a year presidential salary. I don't think it's true that Netanyahu is pleased. They wanted Hilary to win. She can be bought. Trump can't.
I'm not sure if what I'm saying here is true. This is just from the bits I've picked up. I don't know if any of us really know the whole truth.
I think you are absolutely correct. My US friends who have all worked abroad can confirm that they used to receive letters asking for donations to the Clinton admin when Bill Clinton was in office in return for any help that they required. Needless to say all of them responded saying they were Republicans so they were not targeted again.
When I read it, I must have read it in a different way. I took it that she meant Obama would be the last black president, not the last president. Think I'd be more worried if her success rate was 100%!
I think America will have to see what happens it might not be as negative as they think. I know he's said some off the wall things but the man is no idiot.
Great link, thanks. Funny, this is exactly the way we see him. What the media mention, i.e. that he is a failed businessman and that he has lots of defunk companies, etc., etc., what they fail to explain is that they are franchises, not owned by the Trump empire as such. I suspect he is going to say to the Chinese, OK you sell goods to us but you should buy foodstuffs from us in return, quid pro quo??? This is language the Chinese will understand.
As soon as "the exit polls" use statistics to foretell the winners of elections, you can bet your bottom dollar it's going to be the opposite.
YD was over the moon this morning, wearing her Trump T shirt and hat to college. Obviously most Americans want him and not Hilary, so what does that tell you? another country fed up with what's going on, on their home turf. I think Trump says things (albeit clumsily) that a lot of people think but dare not say out loud and that's what they like, straight talking.
Look what's happened in our country, we are so scared to hardly speak because of the PC offense police, who will take any opportunity to label someone with an "ism" even though they are not.
At the end of the day, the majority voted for him like it or not, America wanted him more than they wanted Hilary. And as we see in this country, people usually over react when the winner is not what was expected.
Hubs & I saw the exit polls and like you we just knew in our bones that Trump would get in. Unfortunately the media are all in the pockets of big business & wall street, that is why they were all so sure that Mrs Clinton would win. They forgot that the PEOPLE don't listen to big business/media.
We have friends who live in Philidelphia and they are sick to death with the Democratic Party - my friend who is also originally from Singapore but married to a Texan said that their Medicare is so expensive that they have bought private worldwide health insurance in Singapore (covers all pre-existing ailments). Middle USA woke up to the fact that the Obama admin talk a good talk and do absolutely nothing. I would love Nigel Farage to be Mr T's ambassador in the EU - then we will see some real fireworks.
Looking forward to hear the outcome of the Oz's sending "agreed refugees" from their island prison to the States as agreed by Mr Obama, honestly can't see Mr T agreeing as I understand there are quite a few Iranians amongst them!
